Moving from GloriaFood to ARDOIZA, step by step
ARDOIZA is a commission-free table booking and takeaway ordering service for restaurants and businesses registered in France (SIRET required). Your menu, photos, promotions and opening hours are imported automatically by a setup assistant, in WordPress. Your old buttons keep working, and there is nothing to type in again. Allow a few minutes for a menu of around fifty dishes; the photos take the longest.
This guide follows the setup assistant screen by screen, says what is imported and what is not, then how to bring your customers across and when to switch GloriaFood off. For the background and the dates, read GloriaFood shutting down first.
What does the setup assistant do?
The setup assistant is part of the Ardoiza Click & Collect WordPress plugin, which comes with the Basic (€29 a month) and Pro (€89 a month) plans. It opens when you activate the plugin. You can then find it in ‘Ardoiza Orders’, under ‘Setup’.
The import runs from your website, not from our servers. It reads the public GloriaFood menu, the one your customers see. For opening hours, it reads only a few fields: the name, the address, the time zone, the opening hours and the zones. Your bank details and billing data are never read, stored or logged.
The free ‘ARDOIZA PRO’ plugin (menu with allergens, QR code, simple booking) is a different tool: it does not import from GloriaFood. It is available in the official WordPress plugin directory. The import is done with Ardoiza Click & Collect.
The steps: find the account, see the preview, import, read the report
- The setup assistant finds your account. At the ‘Your previous system’ step, it looks for a GloriaFood account in your pages, posts, menus and widgets. If it finds one, it shows ‘We found your GloriaFood account’, with the middle of the identifier hidden: click ‘See what will be brought across’. Otherwise, paste the address of the page where your customers used to order, then click ‘Find my account’.
- You see what will be imported. The ‘What we bring across’ step shows a preview with figures: categories, dishes, photos, option groups, promotions and opening hours. Nothing has been written to your website yet. Tick ‘My menu’, ‘My photos’, ‘My promotions’ and ‘My opening hours’. If you already had a menu on this website, choose ‘Add to my menu’ (it stays as it is) or ‘Replace my current menu’ (it is hidden, never deleted). Then click ‘Start the import’.
- The import runs by itself. A progress bar follows the categories, then options, dishes, photos, promotions and opening hours. You can close the page: open the setup assistant again and click ‘Resume the import’. No dish is ever created twice.
- You read the report. At the ‘All set’ step, the report shows what was imported, what was skipped and why. Click ‘Download the report’ to keep it. A photo over 5 MB or in a format that isn't recognised is skipped without stopping the import: ‘Retry the photos’ tries it again later.
What is imported automatically
| In GloriaFood | In ARDOIZA |
|---|---|
| Categories | Categories, in the same order |
| Dishes, descriptions, prices | Products, at the same price |
| Dishes out of stock or switched off | Imported in the same state |
| Sizes of a dish | A compulsory option group, named ‘Size (dish name)’ |
| Option groups and extras | Option groups, with minimum, maximum and whether they are compulsory |
| Dish photos | Added to your WordPress media library and attached to the dishes |
| Tags, ingredients, additives | Imported as text in the dish description |
| Basket discounts, as a percentage or an amount | Promotions, with their code |
| Opening and collection hours | Click & Collect collection hours |
| Booking hours | Hours of the booking plugin, if it is installed |
In GloriaFood, the price of a size is added to the price of the dish, and that calculation is kept: a €15 dish with a €7 size stays at €22.
Allergens are not ticked for you: each imported dish arrives without allergen information. Complete it in ‘Products’ before going live, otherwise your customers see that allergens have not been provided.
What is not imported?
Nothing merely similar is ever imported instead: anything without an equivalent is listed in the report, with the reason.
- Your past orders and bookings. The setup assistant cannot read them. Export them from GloriaFood before your service ends, and keep those exports for your accounts.
- Your customers. They are imported with a CSV file: see below.
- Delivery. Ardoiza Click & Collect handles collection in person. Your delivery zones are noted for information.
- Promotions on delivery or with a free product. They are skipped, with the reason.
- Set menus, dishes limited to certain days, options ticked by default. They are flagged in the report.
- VAT per dish. It is set in your ARDOIZA settings.
A promotion with a condition that does not exist in ARDOIZA arrives switched off: check it in ‘Promotions’ before switching it on.
Your old links and buttons keep working
The pages that carried the GloriaFood button or widget are recognised and kept. There is nothing to edit: the button now opens ARDOIZA.
When should you switch GloriaFood off?
When you are happy with your menu and your test order has gone through. Not before. The setup assistant reminds you that the GloriaFood plugin is still active, but it never switches it off for you: do it yourself in ‘Plugins’.
Don't wait for GloriaFood to close before you import: the menu is read from their service, and once it has stopped, it is too late.
Bringing your customers across with a CSV file
Your customers are not in the public menu: export them yourself from GloriaFood, then upload the file.
- In the GloriaFood dashboard, open ‘Reports’, then ‘List view’.
- Choose the customer list (‘Clients’), then export it in CSV format.
- In WordPress, open ‘Ardoiza Customers’, then ‘Import’, and upload the file.
- Check the preview (recognised columns, number of customers, first ten rows), then click ‘Import these customers’.
The columns are recognised automatically, in French or in English, in any order: name, email, phone, consent. A file cannot be larger than 2 MB or longer than 5,000 rows; above that, split it, for example year by year.
Without a consent column, or without a clear ‘yes’ on the row, no marketing consent is recorded. That is the GDPR rule, and it protects you.
Undoing an import you are not happy with
Click ‘Undo this import’: only the items created by the import are deleted, and what you entered by hand is kept. A menu hidden by ‘Replace my current menu’ becomes visible again. You can also run the import again later: it updates what already exists, without creating anything twice.
For customers, the ‘Undo the last import’ button removes the customers that were added, and only those.
No WordPress website: the import when your site is created (Essential and Pro)
No website? With the Essential (€40 a month) and Pro (€89 a month) plans, ARDOIZA builds and hosts your website. Enter your old GloriaFood site ID in your customer area: your menu is imported when the site is created. Otherwise, you start from a sample menu.
Then check your menu, fill in allergens and VAT, complete your legal notice, publish it and click ‘Publish my website’. The plans and their prices are on the Our plans page.
Frequently asked questions about the import
How long does the import take?
A few minutes for a menu of around fifty dishes; the photos take the longest. You can close the page: the import picks up where it stopped, with no duplicates.
What if a photo is over 5 MB?
It is skipped and the import carries on without it. The report flags it, and the ‘Retry the photos’ button tries it again later, once the file is smaller.
Is my customers' marketing consent imported?
Only when it is clear. Without a consent column in the file, or without a clear ‘yes’ on the row, no marketing consent is recorded: that is the GDPR rule.
Does the setup assistant switch GloriaFood off for me?
No, never. It reminds you that the GloriaFood plugin is still active; you switch it off yourself in ‘Plugins’, once you are happy with your menu and your test order has gone through.
